TT 2009

It does not seem that long a go that we were sitting on the bank at Creg Na Baa watching a certain Mike Hailwood catching Phil Read on the road on our first TT visit in 1978, and here we are in 2009 getting ready to set off again. We originally went in 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981, then the inevitable happened and I got marrried and of course, we never went to the TT for a few years. But what goes around, comes around, and we've been going every year for the last 12 years without a miss apart from when it was cancelled due to the foot and mouth outbreak. When I say "we", I mean brother Steve and me.

Welcome to my Biker-Gifts blog

It's that time of the year when the bike comes out of it's winter storage, is dusted down and put back on the road after being SORN for the bad weather. It always coincedes with the Isle of Man TT races. There will be bikers out there saying that I'm a dry weather motorcyclist, and my answer will be "YES, I certainly am". I started riding a motorbike at the age of 17, some thirty or more years ago, so I've done my bit in the bad weather - done that, got the hat!! My idea of going out for a ride now, is to pull on my leathers on a warm day and return home dry and warm with a clean bike.  The insurance renewal just came in, and to my amazement it's now only £73/year fully comprehensive, just so cheap compared with my caravan with costs a couple of hundred pounds a year. You would think a 180MPH+ bike would cost must less than the caravan, but then many will think that the caravan is far more dangerous!!

TT 2007

I met up with Pauline and David Hailwood at the TT2007 for a chat and team photograph.
